The winter weather may finally be hitting us in Yorkshire, but there is plenty going on in Bradford over the next few months to get excited about leaving your lovely, warm house for. Have a look below and see if anything takes your fancy. We can’t possibly all hibernate through the colder months with so much going on – tempting as it is!
Revelations: Experiments in Photography (exhibition) – from now until 7th February 2016
National Media Museum, Bradford City Centre (FREE entry)
This exhibition looks at the history of photography and its impact upon modern artists. Whilst you’re there, you could check out the rest of the National Media Museum, which has plenty to offer, and has free entry too. Or you could visit the resident IMAX cinema, which is amazing for 3D films.
Paddy McGuinness’s show: Daddy McGuinness – 4th February 2016
St. George’s Hall, Bradford City Centre (tickets range from £20.50 to £28.50 plus booking fees)
This is Paddy’s first stand-up tour in 11 years! As the title suggests, it focuses on parenthood. If Paddy’s comedy isn’t your thing, there are many other comedians coming to Bradford in the near future, including Ed Byrne and Frankie Boyle.
Ilkley Film Festival – 17th-21st February 2016
The King’s Hall, Ilkley Playhouse & Ilkley Cinema (ticket prices vary for each event)
In its third year, Ilkley Film Festival is growing in popularity and size. This year’s festival features over 40 movies, including those filmed locally (Miss You Already), those starring locals (Learning to Drive), old classics, and new classics. Many tickets are just £5 each.
Bradford Beer Festival – 25th-27th February 2016
Victoria Hall, Saltaire (entry between £3 and £6, depending on the session you attend)
This CAMRA beer festival features over 130 real ales, ciders, international beers, and fruit wines. There will be hot and cold food available at all times, and your entry price includes a free programme and commemorative glass. Some sessions include entertainment too. There are extra benefits for CAMRA members, such as free entry to certain sessions and a free half pint.
Winter Steam Gala – 26th-28th February 2016
Keighley & Worth Valley Railway (KWVR), Keighley (prices currently unknown)
KWVR are holding a Winter Steam Gala in February, which is always very popular. This event will include many steam engines, and promises to be fun for enthusiasts and the general public alike. A great day out for families.
